March 2019 was the best ever month for the UK new van market as buyer in their thousands tucked in to new 19-plate vans, Vanman reveals the ten best-selling new vans of last month!

Buyers climbed into new 19-plate vans and at the top of the tree for yet another month was the excellent Ford Transit Custom van selling nearly 7,000 more units than any other new van on the market last month. The Custom stands head and shoulders at the top of the new van market with a reputation for quality, with last year’s facelift making the market leading better and more popular than ever before.

The iconic Ford Transit van had to settle for second place in the UK new van market once again, with its little brother showing no sign of letting the top spot slip. The Transit van still leads the way in the large van segment after more than 50 years in the market, with a facelifted model set to join the market with mild hybrid technology later this year.

Another van with a history which spans back more than half a century, with popularity showing no sign of waning. There’ll also be a facelifted Volkswagen Transporter van joining the market later this year alongside and all-electric e-Transporter van. Volkswagen vans will be hoping the Volkswagen Transporter T6.1 can carry on where the T6 leaves off when it joins the market later this year!

The very fact that the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is only second place in terms of large vans in this table and fourth best-selling overall is a testament to the quality of the vans above it. The Mk3 model has been dubbed the most intelligently connected van the world has ever seen and offers fantastic driving dynamics which set the bar in the large van market.

Top of the tree in terms of pick-ups is another van which spans decades in the form of the Ford Ranger pick-up. The Ranger is the only pick-up in the top ten which highlights its performance and popularity in the new van market, with popularity set to increase further with the introduction of a facelifted model in coming months.

International Van of the Year winner, the Peugeot Partner van is not used to being this far down the table, however it was the best-selling van in the small van segment last month, fighting off competition both in house and externally to take sixth spot in the overall table with an impressive 2,977 19-plate vans sold last month.

The all-new Vauxhall Vivaro van is one of the most hotly anticipated new vans of 2019, however buyers continue to get their hands on the last remaining crop of current models. Expect the all-new Vauxhall Vivaro van to fare even better when it joins the market midway through 2019, Vanman will see it first at the CV Show 2019!

The Citroen Berlingo is one of a trio of sister vans which have set a new standard in the small van market, the Berlingo is the second van in the PSA trio in the top ten with the Peugeot Partner taking the bragging rights in March 2019. Expect competition to hot up amongst the three in coming months, with each being excellent vans in their own right.
