Multiple award winners

Having already taken the International Van of the Year 2019 award, there’s no doubt these three new small vans from PSA mean business, now taking the WhatVan? Van of the Year 2019 prize which was claimed by the Volkswagen Crafter in 2018. The new Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner and Vauxhall Combo vans also picked up the Light Van of the Year prize in what would prove to be a particularly fruitful return for the PSA group.

All three new small vans are available with two wheelbase lengths, up to 4.4 cubic metres of load volume and payloads up to 1050kg. There’s also a choice of highly efficient petrol and diesel engines, which each of the new vans is also available with a new EAT8 automatic gearbox in conjunction with a five-speed manual transmission on 1.5-litre models and a six-speed manual transmission on 1.5-litre models.

Driver Assistance

All three small vans come available with a host of the latest driver assistance features and technology including: Distance alert, cornering lights, trailer stability control, keyless entry, driver attention alert and traffic sign recognition, whilst the Citroen Berlingo and Peugeot Partner models are now available with four high spec trim levels with specific business purposes in mind and three trim levels on the new Vauxhall Combo van.

New technology

There’s also new interiors that are more technologically advanced and more comfortable than the vans they are replacing in the small van market with all specification levels boasting an impressive list of standard features. Higher up the ranges an overload indicator becomes standard, this first alerts you if you are at 80% of your total carrying capacity and then warns you again if you are overloaded. Another new system available higher up the ranges is the surround rear-vision camera, which gives you a rear, side and reversing camera view of your surroundings on a five-inch colour touchscreen positioned in the place of the rear-view mirror.

Raising the bar

When talking at the award ceremony, WhatVan? Editor James Dallas has the following to say about the new Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner and Vauxhall Combo vans: ”PSA has raised the bar in terms of driveability and load-carrying practicality.
