Toyota vans have revealed an unusual one-off collaboration pick-up set to debut at the SEMA show in Las Vegas this month!
Based on the Toyota Tundra pick-up, the new model has been modified so that it can serve pizza fresh from its load bed, thanks largely to a collaboration with Pizza Hut. Toyota vans have described the PIE Pro as a “mobile pizza factory” and uses a Toyota Tundra SR5 model which is unavailable in the UK market. This model has been stripped down to the chassis and swaps the standard internal combustion engine for a hydrogen powered fuel cell option taken from the Toyota Mirai passenger car.
The load bed of the new pick-up has been converted into ‘The Kitchen’, which is essentially a pizza factory on wheels and has the capability of cooking and packaging pre-made pizzas in less than seven minutes. The equipment includes: a refrigerator, computer-guided articulating robotic arms and a portable conveyor oven and it can all be powered using the zero emissions hydrogen fuel cell. This will ensure the Pizzas are environmentally friendly and without any unwanted particulate matter
Toyota will be incredibly busy at the SEMA show, dedicating the rest of their stand to members of the Toyota cars range in the form of a range of custom Toyota Corolla cars and the Toyota Supra Racing Concept.
Toyota vans have yet to confirm whether a pizza making model based on the smaller Toyota Hilux pick-up would be a possibility in the UK new van market, however this would surely be a fantastic addition to our streets.
