Nissan vans have revealed that they are currently working on all-electric versions of the Nissan NV300 and Nissan NV400. The new medium van and large van could enter production within the next two years, with the Mercedes eVito and Volkswagen eCrafter vans expected to be amongst the rivals in the market.
The new electric vans will be part of a wide-scale commercial vehicle push from Nissan, with updated versions of the Nissan NV300, Nissan NV400 and Nissan Navara all joining the market later this year. Nissan vans are also replacing diesel Nissan NV200 vans with a smaller Nissan NV250 small van based on the Renault Kangoo.
The revised Nissan NV300 for 2019 will offer more power and lower running costs than current models, with the 1.6-litre dCi engine coming with a new twin-turbocharger and the option of an automatic transmission.
The revised Nissan NV400 large van will get a styling facelift later on in 2019 alongside new turbodiesel engines, these should improve fuel economy alongside lowering tailpipe emissions.
Both the new Nissan NV300 and the Nissan NV400 will meet the latest Euro 64-Temp emission standards which will be compulsory for the majority of new vans for sale in the UK onwards of September 2019.
The Nissan Navara for 2019 is also due a huge range of upgrades which the brand have revealed will make the iconic pick-up more refined and comfortable. Nissan Navara King Cab models will receive the same five-link suspensions set-up with coil springs as the double cab model, whilst the Navara will also receive engine updates to lower emissions and improve fuel economy.
Nissan vans also revealed that despite the diesel Nissan NV200 leaving the range, they are also currently working on an all-new version of the electric Nissan e-NV200 to be sold alongside the Nissan NV250 small van.
