Renault Kangoo ZE concept

Above you can see the Renault Kangoo ZE concept, an all-electric show car which previews the appearance of the next generation Kangoo small van from Renault vans which is due to join the market in 2020, let’s take a closer look!

The concept van no longer sees the ageing, boxy design of the current Renault Kangoo van, with a more sculpted and car-like shape, with bosses revealing that the new design will not have any impact on the size or shape of the load area. The wider rear track increased space in the rear in comparison with the current van in fact. Design boss at Renault vans, Laurens van den Acker revealed that the concept model is around 80% of what we can expect from the production van.

The exterior takes styling cues from the Renault Megane passenger car , which is broken up by a two-bar grille and lower air vents in the front and rear bumpers with grilles inspired by those seen on computers. The green detailing is taken from the Renault EZ-Pro autonomous delivery concept which was displayed at the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in September 2018 in Hannover.

At the front of the Renault Kangoo ZE concept you’ll find a fully glazed and transparent grille showcasing the C-shaped lights with a connecting light strip between them and framing the brand’s diamond badge. A green graphic also encircles the sides and rear of the concept van, joining the boot logo, door handles and sliding door tracks.

The Renault Kangoo ZE is a fully electric van, however details are yet to be released regarding the drivetrain of the new van. We’ll have to wait until it comes into production until we know the driving range and power of the electric van, however it is likely to take some running gear and technology from the Nissan Leaf and as such will likely exceed the 90-mile electric range possible in the current Renault Kangoo ZE van.

Alongside the Renault Kangoo ZE Concept, Renault vans also revealed a wooden electric bicycle to go with the van for deliveries in restricted access areas.
