Vans A2Z.com Verdict The availability of front- or rear-wheel drive extends the versatility of the all-new Movano, there’s a choice of three 2.3-litre diesels and the cab design is well thought-out. Well worth a look. Vauxhall’s all-new Movano has been well worth the wait. With new engines, the availability of both front- and rear-wheel drive and grossing at from 2.8 to 4.5 tonnes, it’s streets ahead of its predecessor and covers a far wider sector of the market. One of the newcomer’s big plus-points is the cab. There’s an astonishing amount of storage space; in fact you can easily lose count of the number of cubby-holes, shelves and compartments that are provided. The result of a joint-venture between Vauxhall’s parent GM and Renault — which sells it as the Master — it offers a load area that extends from 8.0m3 to a cavernous 17.0m3. There’s the choice of three wheelbases, an extended length body and three roof heights. Payload capacities run from 994kg to 2,254kg and it can tow either 2.5 or 3.0 tonnes according to the version chosen. Under the bonnet you’ll find a 2.3-litre Euro 4 common rail diesel producing 100hp/285Nm, 125hp/310Nm or 146hp/350Nm. Specify a particulate trap and it will comply with Euro 5. A six-speed gearbox comes as standard with a Techshift automated gearbox an extra-cost option on the 125hp and 146hp lumps. ABS and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution are both standard features; but while Electronic Stability Programme is standard on rear-wheel drive models it’s a little disappointing that Vauxhall has not decided to fit it to everything. Oil change intervals are set at 25,000 miles and Movano comes with a three-year/100,000-mile warranty. Movano is additionally produced as a chassis cab, a chassis crew cab and a platform cab. Tippers, dropsides, box vans, combis and minibuses are also available.
