If you’re in the market for a small hatchback-type van then give Grande Punto some serious consideration. It’s a real gem.

The Grande Punto Van remains an appealing package thanks to its sharp styling and lively on-the-road performance. Top payload capacity is 520kg, the compact Fiat offers a modest 1.0m3 cargo area and it comes with a superb engine. We’re talking about the always-impressive 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel with 75bhp/190Nm on tap in either Euro 4 or Euro 5 emissions specification. Married to a five-speed manual gearbox, it’s flexible, packs plenty of punch for its size and won’t cost you a fortune in fuel. Fiat quotes a combined cycle economy figure of no less than 62.8mpg and we see no reason to disagree. CO2 output is a planet-saving 119g/km.

ABS and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution are standard features. Driver and passenger airbags come as standard too in the stylish and roomy cab. Another feature is the City Function button; sometimes referred to as the girly button by more macho drivers.
