If you’re in search of a small hatchback-type van that’s fun to drive then stick this one on your shopping list. You won’t be disappointed.

With Ford’s Fiesta Van and Vauxhall’s Corsavan both such impressive packages, there’s a danger that people in the market for a hatchback-type three-door light commercials will overlook Peugeot’s offering. That would be a pity because its 207 Van has a lot to recommend it, including superb diesel engines.

Under the bonnet you’ll find either a 1.4-litre HDi pumping out 68bhp/160Nm or a 1.6-litre HDi generating 92hp/215Nm. They’re both married to a five-speed manual gearbox. Load cube is 1.1m3 while top payload capacity is 450kg. For your money you get an attractively styled cab interior and the choice of two specification levels; entry and Professional. Available solely on the 1.4, the latter includes air conditioning and Bluetooth compatibility. Not that you’ll be short-changed if you decide to stick with entry-level instead. It includes ABS with Emergency Brake Assist, driver and passenger airbags, side airbags and electric windows. Driving pleasure comes as standard with this Peugeot. It rides and handles well and the 1.6-litre offers bags of performance.
